Amazon Adds Grace Periods to Account Health

Account Health Assurance sellers get grace periods, listings that stay live during appeals, and three fast-review challenges every 180 days — US by end of 2026.

Amazon is extending Account Health Assurance with a set of protections it calls Listing Protection: a grace period before most listing enforcements, listings that stay live while an appeal is reviewed, a warning before a pricing change triggers a deactivation, and three "seller challenges" every 180 days. It is one of the more concrete seller protections Amazon has shipped in years — but it is gated. It applies only to sellers already enrolled in Account Health Assurance with an Account Health Rating above 250, rolling out in the US by the end of 2026 and worldwide in 2027.

What changed

Account Health Assurance is Amazon's commitment to give qualifying sellers advance notice before deactivating their selling account over a policy violation — a response to sellers waking up to a suspended account with no warning. Until now it protected the account, not individual listings; automated enforcement could still act on your ASINs independently, before any window opened. The new Listing Protection extends the same logic down to the listing level: most listing enforcements come with a grace period to fix the issue first, and in most cases the listing stays live during the appeal.

The challenge mechanism

The most concrete piece is the challenge: three per 180 days, reviewed by a specialist team rather than an automated queue, with most sellers hearing back within 24 hours. If Amazon got it wrong, you get the challenge back — so a bad automated enforcement no longer burns one of your three shots. The operating rule is simple: save challenges for revenue-critical listings and use ordinary appeals for everything else.

What to do

Confirm your Account Health Assurance status now, because none of this applies unless you are enrolled and your Account Health Rating stays above 250. If you are near the threshold, clear the defects dragging it down before the US rollout. And treat your Account Health Rating as worth protecting for its own sake — it is now the gate on a protection that did not exist before.
